My certification is through Essential Yoga Therapy where I completed a 2-year, 1,000-hour training program with Robin Rothenberg, a nationally known yoga therapist, author and researcher. I am currently a faculty member and mentor.
For the past 14 years, I have practiced out of the Sastun Center of Integrative Health Care, along with a consortium of practitioners who offer a holistic approach to wellness. This is where I conduct all my sessions.
My therapeutically-based approach uses both my yoga training and my 35 years’ experience working as an Occupational Therapist.
- In 2002, I studied at the Nosara Yoga Institute with Don and Amba Stapleton, the founders and directors of the institute, where I completed a 200-hour teacher training certificate. The curriculum at the Nosara Yoga Institute is internationally recognized through its membership with the Yoga Alliance.
- In 2010, I completed the Relax and Renew Trainer program in Restorative Yoga with Judith Lasater, a physical therapist who has taught yoga since 1971. Deep relaxation can lead to lowered blood pressure and blood sugar levels, an increased level of “good” cholesterol or improvements in digestion, insomnia, general fatigue and more.
- In 2010, I trained with Robin Rothenberg, an internationally respected yoga therapist who teaches therapeutic yoga. Through her training, I am certified to teach the Essential Low Back Program.
In 2013, I completed a study with University of Kansas professor, Dr. Joe LeMaster, The Chautari Study: Trauma-Informed Yoga Therapy to Reduce Generalized pain in Refugee Women.
